Highlights of my scientific career

  • As part of my MSc and Phd programmes at the Chemistry Department,Warsaw University of Technology I worked on the research of physical properties of hydrocarbons (and derived compounds) under the supervision of professor Urszula Domanska. In Prof Domanska's group we were using various algorithmic techniques to fit Wilson, NRTL and Uniquac equations to experimental solid - liquid equilibrium data. The team captured the data during long days (and nights) of 1988 and 1989.
  • In 1991 I started a PhD program at the Materials Science and Engineering Department, University of Pennsylvania . Just before I arrived in Philadelphia a team in Germany had published a synthetic method of obtaining fullerenes in large quantities starting a revolution in carbon nanotechnology. UPENN was at the center of the bucky science and I had a fortune of working for Professor Jack Fisher who is a great scientist and teacher.
  • In 1996 I spent a year working as a postdoctoral fellow on mesoporous silicas at the Princeton Materials Institute (currently PRISM) in the group of professor Alex Navrotsky.
